This is not fortune-telling.
It is reading a system of interpretation used for over a thousand years.
The four pillars are eight characters recording the moment of birth in the sixty-year cycle. Drawing those eight is a settled computation — solar terms are set by the sun's position, and the day pillar is counted in sixty-day cycles from a fixed reference day. Up to here it is astronomy, and everyone gets the same answer. What differs is the interpretation after that, which is why Starhall shows arithmetic and reading apart.
HOW IT IS CALCULATED
This is how we do the arithmetic
Up to here it is astronomy, not interpretation. Anyone doing it should get the same answer. We do not copy an almanac table — we compute it.
- The year pillar — the year turns at Ipchun, not on 1 January or Lunar New Year
- The month pillar — a solar term is the moment the sun's longitude passes a multiple of 15°. Months are divided by those
- The day pillar — counted in a sixty-day cycle from Gapjin, 31 January 1900
- The hour pillar — the hour of birth divided into twelve two-hour branches
WHAT WE WILL NOT SAY
Things we will not say
A trustworthy reading is judged less by what it can say than by what it declines to.
- When you will die, when illness will come — we do not say. That is medicine, and there are no grounds
- Leave this person, don't sign this — we do not make decisions for you
- 'It will definitely get better' — we don't fill the page with that. It is comfort, not material

What if I don't know my birth time?
We drop the hour pillar and read six characters. The day master and the spread of the five energies still come out. The report is marked 'no hour pillar,' and anything that needs it is left blank.
Do I enter the lunar or the solar date?
Please enter the solar date. The chart is divided by solar terms, not by the lunar calendar, so a lunar date entered as-is puts the month out.
The result differs from what other places give
Most of the divergence comes from solar-term boundary days and how the ja hour (23:00–01:00) is handled. Starhall computes the solar terms directly from the sun's ecliptic longitude and prints that basis on the report. It is less that one is right than that the bases differ — and we do not hide ours.
Is this fortune-telling?
No. We do not predict what will happen. We read the spread of energy held in the eight characters and use it as material for your decisions.
Do you read health or lifespan as well?
We do not read it. That is medical territory and there is no evidence for it. Please take judgements about your body to a medical institution.
Is the birth date I enter stored?
Stage 1 sends nothing to a server. What you enter and what comes out stay on your device.
If I don't like it, can I get a refund?
. On your first payment 100% refund guarantee agreement must be signed before payment goes through — we could not offer this if we were not sure of the work. The terms are these. ① A change of mind can be withdrawn Within 7 days of purchase of purchase. ② However, once digital content (Korea's Cultural Industry Promotion Act, Art. 2(5)) has begun to be delivered, that portion is not refundable — a video cannot be un-watched once opened.
Can I transfer what I bought to someone else?
No. A purchase cannot be transferred to another person or moved to another account. That is part of why the price sits below list price.
