This is how it comes out
Up to here it is calculation, not interpretation. Anyone doing it should get the same answer.

The year pillar — divided at ipchun
Not 1 January, and not Lunar New Year either. The year turns only once the solar term ipchun has passed. That is why the year pillar so often comes out wrong for people born in early February.

The month pillar — divided by solar terms
A solar term is the moment the sun's ecliptic longitude passes a multiple of 15 degrees. The month is divided at that moment, not on the first of the calendar month.

The day pillar — a sixty-day cycle
Taking 31 January 1900, a gapjin day, as the anchor, it repeats every sixty days. You can count it straight from the date difference without looking anything up.

The hour pillar — the twelve branches
Two hours make one earthly branch. The ja hour runs from 23:00 to 01:00, and places differ on which day that stretch belongs to. We print our basis on the report.

Common questions
What if I don't know my birth time?
We drop the hour pillar and read six characters. The day master and the spread of the five energies still come out. The report is marked 'no hour pillar,' and anything that needs it is left blank.
Do I enter the lunar or the solar date?
Please enter the solar date. The chart is divided by solar terms, not by the lunar calendar, so a lunar date entered as-is puts the month out.
The result differs from what other places give
Most of the divergence comes from solar-term boundary days and how the ja hour (23:00–01:00) is handled. Starhall computes the solar terms directly from the sun's ecliptic longitude and prints that basis on the report. It is less that one is right than that the bases differ — and we do not hide ours.
Is this fortune-telling?
No. We do not predict what will happen. We read the spread of energy held in the eight characters and use it as material for your decisions.
Do you read health or lifespan as well?
We do not read it. That is medical territory and there is no evidence for it. Please take judgements about your body to a medical institution.
Is the birth date I enter stored?
Stage 1 sends nothing to a server. What you enter and what comes out stay on your device.
If I don't like it, can I get a refund?
. On your first payment 100% refund guarantee agreement must be signed before payment goes through — we could not offer this if we were not sure of the work. The terms are these. ① A change of mind can be withdrawn Within 7 days of purchase of purchase. ② However, once digital content (Korea's Cultural Industry Promotion Act, Art. 2(5)) has begun to be delivered, that portion is not refundable — a video cannot be un-watched once opened.
Can I transfer what I bought to someone else?
No. A purchase cannot be transferred to another person or moved to another account. That is part of why the price sits below list price.
